Honey

Natural honey is a nutritious food product with healing properties, made by bees from flower nectar or honeydew. We distinguish between nectar honey (also known as floral) and honeydew honey. Honey typically contains:

  • Simple sugars (glucose, fructose) – around 75%

  • Water – 16–20%

  • Organic acids, enzymes, proteins, vitamins, and trace minerals such as phosphorus, magnesium, potassium, iron, and calcium

Health benefits of honey:

  • has antibacterial properties – it inhibits the growth of microorganisms

  • supports the nervous system – reduces tension, calms the mind, boosts mental performance

  • boosts immunity, has anti-inflammatory effects

  • supports treatment of respiratory, circulatory, digestive and liver issues

  • naturally undergoes crystallisation, which is not a sign of poor quality

At Goldendrops Apiary, we cream our honey during crystallisation to keep it soft, smooth, and easy to use. We do not heat our honey, preserving its full nutritional value.

Note: People allergic to bee products should consume honey with caution.
